Documentation Mac
Google Wave is a very new service and Waveboard will try to make things easier for Wave users. Therefore we start collecting common questions in this documentation page.
Google Gears
The Google Gears plugin is needed to enable drag and drop for Waves. You don’t need to install it, because it is already part of Waveboard.
Drag and Drop / File Upload / Linking
You can upload files by dragging files from your desktop into the area if the Wave where you are currently editing. You can also link to Waves by dragging the Wave entry from e.g. the INBOX into the editing field in your Wave. Dragging Waves is tricky, since it does not work if you start dragging on the text. Our hint is: Grab the Wave in the blank between it’s title and the modification date.
Notifications
Waveboard uses the notification informations available from the Google Wave system. You can see the current count also in the title of the Wave window enclosed by brackets. Sometimes this number is confusing to users since it shows the count of changes and not the count of changed waves as you are used to from Mail apps. It also shows more counts if you opened different folders like ‘All’ and have unread stuff there. Clicking into a wave does not completely reset the ‘Changes Count’. You need to click on ‘Read’ to achieve that or step through the changes using the SPACE key.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Google Wave becomes more usable if you use keyboard shortcuts. A full list can be found in the Google Wave Help Section: Keyboard Shortcuts. Waveboard maps a lot of them to Mac-like combinations using the Command (Apple) Key. See the full list in the “Wave” menu of the application.
